The former French international coach was speaking in the press conference ahead of Paris Saint-Germain’s Ligue 1 clash away at Nice when the Champions League cropped up.
The French champions face current Premier League leaders Chelsea in a quarter-final clash deemed ‘the most unpredictable’ of the last eight ties.
It marks a special occasion for Laurent Blanc, as the former Manchester United defender will face iconic manager Jose Mourinho for the first time in a competitive fixture.
With the significant pre-match mind games expected to start any time soon, Spanish paper AS report that Le Parisien’s boss only had kind words for his upcoming rival, saying:
“He’s a fantastic coach. Who would dare say that he isn’t?”
“He has won everything. The Champions League with Porto and Inter… He is one of the greats. I say that because I really think it.”
The two men have a brief history together, as Laurent Blanc was playing for Catalan giants Barcelona whilst Jose Mourinho was on the technical staff of the late Bobby Robson.
When asked what he can expect from Mourinho, the former centre-back admitted that Portuguese boss’ famed mind games and chitchat before the clash is just a part of his personality.
He added: "Mourinho, he is going to speak and comment, that is how he works. But, he is very professional and I have a lot of respect for him.”
