Jose Mourinho has been saying it all season, and so has Brendan Rodgers, but they are not fooling Aleksandar Kolarov.
Since the start of the season, Chelsea manager Mourinho has persistently claimed that his side are not ready to win the Premier League. He has repeatedly pointed out Manchester City’s quality, insisting that his own team will be able to compete with them only in 2014-15.
Liverpool boss Rodgers has toed the line, playing down his side’s chances of clinching the championship for the first time in the Premier League era even they were top.
Yet, a quick look at the league table will tell the story. Chelsea are in pole position with 69 points from 31 matches, Liverpool are second with 68 and Manchester City are third with 66.
It is a four-way battle for the league title and the race is very likely to go down to the final day of the season.
City defender Kolarov knows that, and he also realises that Mourinho and Rodgers are just trying to increase the pressure on the Citizens by claiming that they are the favourites to win the league.
"It is my opinion, but they are in first and second place at this moment,” the 28-year-old Serbian full-back told Sky Sports News.
“They want to know that they are there for the title and they just want to put pressure on us. They are fighting every game for the title and maybe now they have to admit that they are there.
"We know that they are trying to put pressure on us but we are used to playing with pressure because we have had it from the first game of the season.
"We wanted to win the title, this was always out target. They are now in the positions they are in, so they are both there for the title."
