"Win against Arsenal and we will be the favourites for the Premier League title," that’s the message from David Silva to his Manchester City teammates ahead of their clash against Arsenal in London on Saturday.
Manuel Pellegrini’s team will head into the encounter at the Emirates Stadium placed third in the table with 66 points from 29 matches, three points behind leaders Chelsea but with two games in hand.
On the other hand, Arsenal have fallen down to fourth in the standings with 63 points following their failure to win their last two matches.
A 6-0 hammering at Chelsea last weekend was followed by a 2-2 home draw with relegation candidates Swansea City, meaning that Arsene Wenger’s players have to win against Citizens to keep their title ambitions on track.
Silva is understandably wary of the pressure that the Gunners are under at the moment and is looking forward to taking advantage of that.
"I think another win would make us favourites," the 28-year-old told The Sun. "There will still be a long way to go but we'll be in a great position going into the final few weeks.
"If we win them all, there is nothing anyone can do to stop us. We are very confident. We are a club that is improving and I'm confident that next year we will be better again.
"Winning trophies is a feeling that never changes. I had it again this year with the Capital One Cup - but you never get bored of it. Hopefully we can win the Premier League again.”
However, Silva himself may not be able to take to the pitch at the Emirates as he is struggling an ankle injury.
The Spain international suffered the problem during City’s derby win against Manchester United at Old Trafford last week and, according to The Mirror, he could miss the clash against the Gunners.
This will come as a blow for City, as Silva has been one of their star performers this season, scoring five goals and providing eight assists in 20 league appearances.
However, Arsenal will welcome this news as they will have one fewer player to worry about on Saturday.
