On this day: Diaby 9 month injury setback, Courtois 'could stay' at Atletico and Nani eyes exit

On the 28th March 2013 what were the stories that dominated the football landscape? Including Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United.

p>I am casting my eye back to this exact day, the 28th March 2014, but a year earlier.

What were the main tales from that day? What big events were happening in Premier League football?

Here are some of the big scoops from the 28th March 2013…

Abou-t time

Arsenal star Abou Diaby was ruled out by the club for up to nine months with a knee injury.

The French midfielder was just on the brink of returning from a separate injury picked up on international duty with France when he went over in training and tore his anterior cruciate ligament.

The initial prognosis of eight to nine months has of course proved incorrect. Today, twelve months later, Arsene Wenger has revealed that Diaby will be back in full training next Monday, April the 1st - and no this is not a prank.

Diaby will be hoping to finally get his career back on track.

Courting Courtois

Deja-vu anybody?

Thibaut Courtois was talking about his future at Chelsea - insisting he would not go back and play second fiddle to Petr Cech.

The Belgian stopper was in his second season on loan at Atletico Madrid - and had this to say about his Chelsea return:

“I don’t know where I am going to be playing next season, but I know the options. My agent is discussing things with Chelsea. Certain factors come into it. In any case, I want to play in a team where I will be on the pitch and not on the bench. I have my place at Atletico, they like me there, it would not be bad if I could stay here. But doesn’t depend only on me.”

A year later and he is in the exact same position - accept this time Atletico reportedly want him for good.

Not the money for Nani

Nani had reportedly told friends he wanted a summer exit from Manchester United.

It was reported that the out-of-favour Portuguese winger had disclosed to those closest to him a wish to leave Old Trafford.

Funny that, because he signed a new contract in the summer.
