Chelsea morning news: Liverpool chase left-back and Courtois talks stepped up

All the latest news and gossip from Stamford Bridge this morning.

Liverpool are ready to complete a shock move for Ashley Cole according to the Daily Star.

The England international is currently not a first-team figure at Stamford Bridge and is out of contract in the summer.

A move to MLS has been mooted while Real Madrid are said to be keen. However, Brendan Rodgers may decide to move for the player to solve his problematic left-back position.

Paris Saint-Germain are targeting both Eden Hazard and Oscar of Chelsea.

The two teams meet in the Champions League next week - and the rumours have appeared at an awkward time for The Blues.

Yohan Cabaye said of Hazard recently:

"Hazard is 'the' player for Chelsea. He'll be a player to watch. Hazard is the player I'd like to see at PSG. He would do a lot of good to Paris and the league. He's one of the best players against whom I've played."

Chelsea are all set to step up their pace in their bid to keep hold of star loanee Thibaut Courtois.

The Belgian international is now widely regarded as one of the best keepers in the world - but has spent three seasons on loan at Atletico Madrid.

They, and Barcelona, are said to be keen on his signature but reports suggest that Roman Abramovich’s senior advisor Marina Granovskaia is overtaking negotiations to ensure that Courtois will return to Stamford Bridge next season and battle Petr Cech forn the number one spot.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho will consider the future of Kenneth Omeruo after the FIFA World Cup. The Nigerian international has shone for the Super Eagles in the past and is currently on loan at Middlesbrough - where he could decide to stay for first-team football.

And Mourinho said of the player:

“Omeruo, like other Chelsea players on loan are still in my plans. I will continue to monitor them, and if the need arises we call them back to Chelsea. I will monitor the player till after the World Cup and if impresses me I may call him back to the team...”
