Chelsea are handing a trial to a teenager this weekend that Manchester United have already looked at four times.
Joel Asoro will meet up with Chelsea this weekend for a trial, hoping to earn himself a long term deal with the West London club.
Asoro, who currently plays for Brommapojkarna, is developing a reputation for himself as one of the most talented teenagers, playing in the under-17 side of the Swedish club despite only being 15-years-old.
He has graced the training fields of England before with Manchester United having taken a look at him on four different occasions.
Just why United didn’t take a punt on Asoro during any of those four trials is unclear but Chelsea are reportedly next up to take a look at him.
“Interest is high. I have worked as a scout for Manchester United for 15-years in Sweden and Finland so I have been with him over at United four times,” Brommapojkarna youth chief Tommy Soderstrom told Fotbollskanalen.se.
If Chelsea do sign him, he progresses well and eventually makes it into their first tea, this is going to look like an almighty blunder on the part of the Old Trafford club.
However, the similar reasons United didn’t go for him may become clear during his trial with Chelsea although Jose Mourinho said when he arrived for his second spell at the club that he’d be looking to invest more in youth over the next few years.
