Daniel Sturridge scored his 20th goal of the season last night - bending in a superb effort beyond the outstretched dive of Sunderland keeper Vito Mannone.
The England international has now scored an incredible 30 league goals in 37 league appearances - an astonishing record for a player Chelsea essentially let go.
And that brought up a record for the player.
Sturridge is now the fastest person to get to 30 league goals for the club since the 1890’s.
It is a tremendous effort from the England international - and he is clearly proud of the feat.
He posted this on his official Twitter account this afternoon - admitting he is ‘honoured’ at achieving such an accomplishment.
For Sturridge however he will not want this to be the end of his campaign.
The forward will want to carry on with his excellent form and push Liverpool toward an end of season title tilt.
Not only that but the striker is also set to lead the line for England at the World Cup in the summer - and if he takes this form into Brazil - who knows, England might actually get out of their difficult looking group.
