Liverpool must be sick of the sight of Tottenham scouts.
On more than one occasion in recent years, the Reds have been pipped to a transfer target by the North Londoners just when a deal seemed done and dusted.
And now, 21-year-old Lazio midfielder Ogenyi Onazi may be about to follow the same path despite prolonged interested from Anfield.
The Metro reports that both clubs are after the Nigerian, who seems set to leave Lazio at the end of the season for around £8 million with the capital club currently languishing in a disappointing 9th place.
Onazi is described as an agile, hard working box-to-box midfielder, with just one goal all season indicating that an attacking threat is something he has yet to develop.
Transfers for both Clint Dempsey and Gylfi Sigurdsson looked on the cards for the Reds until Tottenham jumped in to snatch the players from under their noses.
Given that Dempsey enjoyed a mediocre season at best, before moving back to the US, while Sigurdsson has struggled to really find his feet at White Hart Lane despite the odd impressive game, seems to indicate Liverpool may have dodged a bullet with the two players.
The Reds have had plenty of transfer success since then, with Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge proving inspired signings for the Anfield outfit, while in contrast, much of Tottenham's recent activity has failed to produce much of an impact.
It would be some surprise if Onzai would snub Liverpool for Spurs, given the fact that the Reds look odds on to play Champions League football and challenge for trophies next year, while the Londoners may miss out on European football all together.
The presence of Franco Baldini may play a part of course for Spurs, but given his last dip into the Italian market, Erik Lamela, Liverpool fans shouldn't be too disappointed if Onzai ends up at White Hart Lane.
They may have loftier targets anyway come July.
