€20m Chelsea target: I wasn't tempted

Javier Pastore, Thiago Silvar, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Blaise Matuidi unveiled at PSG

PSG's Blaise Matuidi says he was not tempted by other offers.

Chelsea face PSG in the Champions League later this month, and the midfield battle will be one to savour.

Sadly for the Blues, Nemanja Matic is cup-tied, while PSG's summer addition Yohan Cabaye is available as Newcastle were not involved in European competition this season.

Cabaye has made just three starts for PSG however, and that's largely been due to the form of the players already at the club, including midfielder Blaise Matuidi.

French international Matuidi was linked with a move away from the club in January, and Chelsea were touted as one of the sides trying to tempt him to quit Ligue 1 with his contract set to expire in June, and Manchester City also suggested.

The 26-year-old signed a new deal in February, and has been talking about his choice to re-commit, admitting he was never seriously contemplating a switch away.

Matuidi told RMC: "Temptations? Not at all. Of course there are things that make you think but in my mind my first choice has always been extended to Paris Saint-Germain.

"It's a relief. When you are out of contract, you ask a lot of questions. I am very happy and proud to have extended at PSG.

"This is the club of my heart, I supported since a kid. It is a pride and honour to be part of this team. I want to do lots of things with PSG."

No prizes for guessing that begins with knocking Chelsea out of the Champions League, and attempting to win Europe's biggest trophy along with a second successive Ligue 1 title.
