A round up of news stories this morning about Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a welcome fitness boost with Michael Dawson and Vlad Chiriches returning to training.

Both central defenders took part in a first team session yesterday but both are expected to take a while to recover, with Chiriches expected to be out for longer than Tottenham’s captain.

“Vlad has been out for a while and we have to make sure we take our time with him. We're pleased to see him back in training this week and we're looking to drop him back into Friday's Under-21 game against Arsenal,” said boss Tim Sherwood.

The Metro claims Tottenham will persist with an attempt to sign Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea this summer.

Jose Mourinho is thought to be open to selling the striker if Chelsea get a fee of at least £17 million.

The Belgian would represent a key and positive addition to Sherwood’s talented squad.

However, should Spurs fail in their attempts to get Lukaku, a couple of alternatives have emerged.

The club is also thought to be interested in signing Manchester United’s Javier Hernandez or Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke.

Both players have previously been linked with switches to White Hart Lane.
