blimey, and I thought we're the selling club. pic.twitter.com/zhDxdJlIfb— Anita Roza (@arsenaloFka) March 25, 2014
Tottenham Hotspur have sold more players, in terms of financial value, than any other club since 2008/2009.
In a table assessing which side has generated the highest income across the European leagues from selling to ‘top five’ rivals Spurs come out on top.
Bear in mind a significant chunk of the cash generated through transfers by Tottenham came through the world record transfer of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid last summer.
Liverpool are the second English team to appear on the list in fourth place, with Arsenal eighth, Manchester United in 17th and Chelsea in 19th.
The Gunners are the classic side perceived to be a selling club for the way Arsene Wenger has allowed key players to leave since they last won a trophy; Alex Song, Cesc Fabregas and Robin Van Persie to name just a few.
However, seven sides have generated more cash through selling players based on the above stat which suggests that perception is unfair.
