City star on United win: 'Manchester is and always will be blue'

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure took to Twitter after his side's 3-0 win at arch rivals Manchester United.

The Ivorian celebrated in style when he scored City's third goal on the night after Edin Dzeko's double put Manuel Pellegrini's side 2-0 up at Old Trafford.

Man City's win leaves them three points behind league-leaders Chelsea but with two games in hand. It also puts them an incredible 15 points above United, who finished nine points above City when they won the Premier League last season.

Over their two games against their cross-city rivals this term, Toure and his team-mates have scored seven goals, conceding just the one at the Etihad Stadium.

And in reaction to the commanding win, the 30-year-old pulled no punches with his assessment.

Confidence, it seems, is coursing through this Manchester City team, with Toure in particular enjoying a rich vein of form.

Added to his five assists this season, the Ivorian's late goal at Old Trafford was his 17th of the campaign. Toure scored a hat-trick only three days ago in the 5-0 win against Fulham and, on this evidence, he will not be suffering any goal droughts any time soon.

For United boss David Moyes, though, Tuesday was another forgettable night. The Scot's side have now accumulated just one point from a possible 18 against the top three sides in the Premier League, with Man United sitting in seventh - 12 points off the top four.

It is clear where Toure gets such confidence from, then, while it is equally difficult to see how United can become the best club in Manchester again. How things have changed for both rivals. Manchester City are the noisy neighbours no more.
