News, views and rumours relating to Manchester United in the past 24 hours.

Manchester United lost 3-0 to Manchester City in the Manchester derby on Tuesday evening at Old Trafford.

Manchester City scored inside the first minute of the game at Old Trafford via an Edin Dzeko goal with the Bosnian striker doubling the visitors' lead in the second half before midfielder Yaya Toure scored City's third.

There were a number of controversial incidents and talking points, including record signing Juan Mata’s form, United legend Paul Scholes’ criticism of Marouane Fellaini in the Sky Sports studio, and a challenge from Danny Welbeck on Pablo Zabaleta.

Manager David Moyes insisted he is to blame for the loss and expressed his disappointment:

"I am the one who picks the team," Moyes said. "I take responsibility and always will do. It is disappointing.”

Moyes came under fire for asserting United must ‘aspire’ to be like City following the game.

Moyes told Sky Sports: "I think we've played a very good side and it's the sort of standard and level we need to try and aspire to get ourselves to at this moment in time.”

‘The Chosen One’ banner had no less than eight guards protecting it following the defeat.

This along with strong reactions from fans accross the world lead United legend Peter Schmeichel to question the fans’ commitment to the club.

Meanwhile, United legend and Sky Sports commentator Gary Neville believes United are ‘suffering an identity crisis’ under David Moyes.

Paul Scholes’ ‘damning verdict’ of the Marouane Fellaini’s performance was:

"For money you paid you expect a lot more. You buy a central midfielder for £27 million, you expect a few goals along the way as well."

No.10 Wayne Rooney told MUTV:

"We know we have to respond. It's a bad night for us all but we have to move on. We didn't deserve to win. We weren't clinical enough and we didn't create enough chances.”

United fans have called for David Moyes to be dismissed after another torturous defeat and lacklustre performance from the Red Devils. The Mirror collects the best and worst from the Manchester United blogs.

Fans also turned on legendary boss Sir Alex Ferguson in the directors’ box at Old Trafford as stewards had to protect the David Moyes ‘Chosen One’ banner from being torn down.

The Telegraph has published ’31 reasons David Moyes must leave Manchester United’, scolding the boss for another disappointing result.

United fans have been offered a deal by GAME to trade in their season ticket for a copy of FIFA 14 if they so desire. Football Manager and Pro Evo are also options for fans wanting to ‘end their misery.’

Manchester City fullback Pablo Zabaleta has ‘condemned’ Danny Welbeck’s challenge and claims he was ‘lucky’ to escape a leg break.

"I was very lucky because I could have broken my leg," said the Argentine.
