Manchester City latest: Early team news; ex-pro says no United man would get in Blues side

Yaya Touré interview

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Etihad…

Not long now until Manchester city kick off the derby against fierce rivals Manchester United, and despite their contrasting fortunes, the Blues will not be taking anything for granted.

They will know United could make a huge dent in Manuel Pellegrini’s title hopes if they return to winning ways at Old Trafford after an inauspicious domestic campaign at the Theatre of Dreams.

In early team news, the BBC reports that Matija Nastasic and Sergio Aguero will both be absent for the visitors, while David Moyes has yet to reveal whether or not Jonny Evans, Rio Ferdinand and Chris Smalling will feature.

Robin van Persie is a long-term absentee for the hosts, while Vincent Kompany returns from suspension for Pellegrini’s side.

In other news, ex-player Rodney Marsh has said there is not a single United player who would get into a combined Manchester XI.

Speaking to Talk Sport, Marsh said, “I wouldn’t pick one player from the Manchester United team and put it in Manchester City’s. I would have Yaya over Rooney every day of the week.

“A lot of people would say David de Gea, but I would pick Joe Hart over him as well.”

In a few short hours, we will see who has the best team…at least on the night.
