UEFA announce Bayern Munich punishment in place for United match

Bayern Munich have been hit with a partial stadium closure for their upcoming Champions League match against Manchester United.

Bayern Munich have been ordered by UEFA to partially close their ground for the Champions League quarter-final second-leg against Manchester United next month.

The punishment comes after some home fans displayed a homophobic banner during the match against Arsenal in the previous round of the competition.

The Guardian reports that the reigning European champions have also been fined €10,000 for the “discriminatory behaviour” which targeted German international Mesut Ozil.

The match against United takes place on April 9, and will now see a partial closure as David Moyes' side attempts to overcome Pep Guardiola’s men.
