Back in January, reports claimed Bayern Munich defender Dante had agreed a deal to move to Manchester United.
The story reportedly emanated from journalist Gustavo Villani and was later tweeted by Fox Sports Brazil before being picked up by the English press.
But alas, it was not to be, and the towering centre-back has now put pen to paper on a new deal that will see him remain at the Allianz Arena until 2017.
Bayern posted a picture of the deal being signed on their official Instagram account earlier today, along with the following message:
"There will be more samba at FC Bayern. Brazilian Dante has extended his contract at the club until 2017."
Following the reports linking him with a move to Old Trafford, there were some suggestions that it was simply a case of trying to get the best possible deal from his current club.
But whatever the truth, there is now one less defender David Moyes can now bring in to replace the soon-to-depart Nemanja Vidic.
