A round up of news stories and transfer rumours about Liverpool from the past 24 hours.

Brendan Rodgers has said his Liverpool side are far from perfect following their performance at Cardiff over the weekend. The Reds eventually won 6-3 but played poorly in the first-half, allowing Cardiff into the game.

"We’re far from being perfect. I think Saturday showed that. The first half we were still a threat going forward but some of our positioning defensively wasn’t so good," said the boss at his press conference ahead of the Sunderland game.

Rodgers has also said that it's important Liverpool fans are appreciating the improvements which are appearing in his team and the club in general.

"I think that people enjoy watching us but more importantly for me it’s important that the Liverpool fans appreciate what we’re doing throughout the world and I think at this moment in time they’re happy with the developments they’re seeing," he added.

Daniel Sturridge has piled praise onto manager Brendan Rodgers, who he says has ‘done so much’ for his career.

“In terms of the set up of the team and from a man management point of view. He's always pushing me to my limits and he's done so much for my career. I'll have to repay him with good performances and success for the team,” said the striker in an interview with Robbie Fowler.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has revealed he won’t be taking his family to the World Cup in Brazil, as he looks to avoid any distractions during the tournament this summer.

“I thought it was bit of a distraction [2006], so in 2010 when I set off for the World Cup in South Africa I preferred for my family to be away from me and I could focus on trying to get my form right. So I will be doing the same again in Brazil,” Gerrard told the Liverpool Echo.

Liverpool have been linked with a swoop for Barcelona attacking prospect Seung Woo Lee. The Metro claims Liverpool are interested in him but Barcelona are thought to be trying to tie him down to a long term deal to stop other sides coming in with lucrative offers.

A sensational rumour is doing the round which suggests Real Madrid are ready to make a move for Liverpool right-back Glen Johnson. The Telegraph has suggested that Carlo Ancelotti wants the England defender before Liverpool can get him tied down on a new contract.

In other transfer news, Luis Muriel reportedly remains firmly on Liverpool’s radar. The £15 million rated Udinese forward has been suggested as an attacking reinforcement for Brendan Rodgers as he prepares his side for the challenge of Champions League football next season.

The Reds continue to be linked with Reading left-back Jordan Obita. The 20-year-old is reportedly seen by Brendan Rodgers as the long term solution to his side’s current problem on that side of defence, which has seen right sided players used in the role over recent weeks.
