Ever since Adnan Januzaj burst on to the scene at the start of the season, the question of which country he would commit his footballing future to has generated plenty of column inches.
The Manchester United winger’s heritage means he has a whole host of options when it comes to international football, with Turkey, Kosovo, Albania, Belgium and England all linked with the teenager.
But now his father has been quoted by TurkishFootball.com after an interview he reportedly gave to NTV Sport.
In it Abedin Januzaj is quoted as saying, “My son will play for either Kosovo or Turkey.”
If that is the case, it means England can finally give up on the exciting but somewhat fanciful notion of enticing the United winger to adorn the Three Lions. While Belgium are also likely to be disappointed not to be able to add to their already impressive array of talented players.
But for now it remains just another story with no foreseeable end.
Only when Januzaj commits to a country will we know just what his future holds on the international stage.
