A selection of the latest stories surrounding Tottenham Hotspur this Monday evening.
Tottenham currently sit in fifth place, six points behind fourth placed Arsenal having played a game more but Vertonghen has said they will not give up until it is mathematically impossible, having closed the gap with a 3-2 win over Southampton yesterday.
The Belgian defender is quoted in the London Evening Standard, saying: “We will try to get as many points as possible and then see where we are at the end of the season.
“It was not our best performance but it is always good to come back from two goals down. We showed good mentality as a team. The manager told us at half time to put more pressure on them so they could not play their game.”
Eriksen said: “In the first half we tried to take our chances but they scored from our mistakes.
“The first goal gave us hope, from two mistakes and being 2-0 down, that got us back in the game. We were a changed team in the second half and everyone believed we could do it after 2-2. Everyone knew it was possible then.”
He said: “When we scored the first goal the energy changed in the stadium and in the players as well.
“Tim said a few words at half-time, we managed to score an early goal in the second half and we really pushed on from there.
“It was great to get the three points, especially after the way we started the game and being able to bounce back like we did. It was fantastic.”
