United morning news: Kroos tipped to follow £37m man; Scholes set to return as coach

A select round-up of news relating to Manchester United

The transfer window may be closed for some time yet, but that has not stopped Manchester United fans from waking up to the news that William Carvalho will be on his way to Old Trafford next summer.

That’s right, not might be on his way, but will be, which is what the Sunday People has claimed, with a £37million fee agreed and a move set to take place after this summer’s World Cup.

If the report proves to be true, United will have signed one of the best young defensive midfielders in Europe.

The paper goes on to claim that United are also confident of signing Toni Kroos from Bayern Munich in a double-move that completely transform their midfield.

In other news, Goal reports that Paul Scholes could be set to take up a coaching role with the first-team next season.

The former United midfielder has worked with the youth set up on a game-by-game basis, but the latest story claims Scholes could join Moyes’ coaching team full-time from the start of the new campaign.

And finally, Moyes is already looking ahead to next year’s trophy challenge, with the Mirror publishing the following quotes from the United boss:

We are building already, with my thoughts and vision for next year. In every game we have to start looking at that. We need to be in there competing for titles next year.”

If William arrives, and if the likes of Kroos follow, Moyes may well get his wish.
