Ahead of El Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu this afternoon, the Real Madrid shot-stopper has been talking to the press.
The 32-year-old Real Madrid icon is likely to start the game on the bench, after battling with fellow teammate Diego Lopez for the number one spot for much of the past two seasons
Then Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho was forced to sign Lopez when Casillas was ruled out with injury, yet caused immense controversy when he favoured his new shot-stopper over a man described as a Real Madrid ‘institution’.
Current Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has since rotated the duo, favouring Diego Lopez in La Liga and Iker Casillas during the club’s Copa Del Rey and Champions League campaigns.
Barcelona come into the match four points behind their great rivals – knowing that only a victory will be sufficient to pile the pressure on Ancelotti’s men as the season heads for a close.
Interestingly, Casillas feels that, during his Real Madrid career, one Barcelona man has hurt Real Madrid more than anyone else - including Argentine superstar Lionel Messi.
Casillas said: 'I have always struggled more with Samuel Eto’o than Messi. Everyone knows that Lionel Messi is a great player. Samuel Eto’o is too, but he is different.
'Eto’o knew how to penetrate our weaknesses, he always created danger and he scored many goals'.
The current Chelsea striker remains an essential member of Mourinho’s squad and has shown his quality by notching over 10 goals since joining from Anzhi Makhachkala last summer.
