With Liverpool looking increasingly likely to finish in the top four and even having a real chance of winning the Premier League this season, the Merseyside club are expected to bolster their squad this summer.
With no European football to play this season, the Anfield outfit will need to have more players next term to cope with additional fixtures.
The Daily Mail have linked Liverpool with moves for two Premier League defenders today, with West Ham’s Winston Reid and Southampton’s Luke Shaw reportedly in Brendan Rodgers’ sights.
New Zealand international Reid has impressed for the Upton Park outfit this term when he has played, however injuries have restricted the centre-half to only 11 starts for the Hammers.
With Liverpool well-stocked with central defenders, it appears that a sale would be necessary to accommodate Reid.
Shaw has been a revelation this season for the Saints and has broken into the senior England set-up.
With the left-back set to potentially be included in Roy Hodgson’s contingent for the World Cup this summer, both Manchester United and Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for the teenager in the summer.
Left-back is a problem area for Rodgers, with Jose Enrique suffering injuries and Aly Cissokho failing to adequately impress during a loan spell from Valencia.
