The Camp Nou custodian has backed Marc-Andre ter Stegen to be the Blaugrana’s next number one.
Although the likes of Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois and Liverpool’s Pepe Reina have been linked with a switch to Camp Nou, the Spain international has revealed who he thinks should be the Blaugrana’s next number one.
Valdes has given his backing to highly rated Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen to fill his gloves next season and has been full of praise for the German stopper.
"He is extremely self-confident for his age and, despite his youth, he conveys a lot of confidence to his teammates. I think he has great physical agility and is a very complete goalkeeper," Valdes told Marca.
The 21-year-old is widely being tipped to join Barcelona in the summer, but as yet there has been no confirmation over the potential move.
Valdes has been linked with a move to the Premier League as a result, with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City thought to be keeping tabs on the stopper’s situation.
