All the news, views and transfer rumours from Old Trafford this weekend…
Every morning we bring you a round-up of the latest news and transfer gossip relating to Manchester United, and this weekend was no exception. To read our United-specific morning news you can find our Saturday report here and our Sunday report here.
But the first place to start has to be with United’s 2-0 victory over West Ham United on Saturday.
The reigning champions followed up their much-needed victory over Olympiakos with a comfortable win away to the Hammers, with Wayne Rooney scoring both goals.
The first was an absolute humdinger, the England striker scoring a lob from just inside West Ham’s half, and he later made it two when an attempted clearance fell straight to him.
The result means United go into next week’s Manchester derby in much better form than they were in prior to last Wednesday.
And boss David Moyes has said his side is ready to face Manuel Pellegrini’s men.
Speaking to the BBC, Moyes said, “We’ll go into our next game confident and ready to get a result.”
Rooney also believes the Blues are in for a tough match at Old Trafford.
In quotes published by the Daily Mail, Rooney said, “This was a good result for us going into the derby, so we’re looking forward to an exciting game and hopefully get a good result.”
And finally, despite continually being linked with a summer switch to Old Trafford, Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos could remain exactly where he is according to his current manager.
The Daily Star published quotes from Pep Guardiola in which he said, “I am very optimistic about the possibility for him to stay.
“I hope that everybody knows what I think about him.”
And yet the longer Kroos goes without agreeing a new deal at the Allianz Arena, the more rumours there will be about a possible move to United.
