United fans react to Rooney performance: 'That's the difference, he plays better without RvP'

Wayne Rooney 2014

Wayne Rooney was the goal-scoring hero for Manchester United in their 2-0 victory over West Ham United, but what did the fans think?

Manchester United fans will be wary of claiming their club has turned a corner.  After all, they have done so before this season, only to walk headlong into a dead-end.

But having done what they needed to do against Olympiakos, David Moyes' side then returned to domestic matters by beating West Ham 2-0 on Saturday evening.

Fans may have wondered how they would cope without the previous week's hat-trick hero Robin van Persie, but Wayne Rooney shone, with Juan Mata excelling behind him.

Rooney scored both goals in the win, including an absolute worldie.  He scored from both his shots on target, but also had four more shots making it a total of six for the match - more than any other player on the pitch.

With Juan Mata operating in his preferred role, the Spaniard impressed, while Shinji Kagawa also showed what he can do when given a chance.

But it was Rooney who stole the show, and after the match we took to Twitter to see what the fans made of his performance.

Although once there, we saw that the likes of Mata and Kagawa were also hailed, raising the question as to just how important van Persie will be in the future of the club.
