Man City star: I am not going to Barcelona or Real Madrid

David Silva has spoken out about his desire to stay at the Etihad Stadium, despite interest from Spain’s big two.

The transfer rumours over David Silva seem to come to the surface every few weeks, with the mercurial Manchester City playmaker consistently linked with a move back to his homeland.

With both Barcelona and Real Madrid thought to be admirers of the Spain international number ten, mega-million moves to the Santiago Bernabeu or Camp Nou are regularly touted.

However, the diminutive schemer has spoken out about his future ahead of the summer transfer window and is determined to stay with City.

“I’m very used to the rumours every summer. They have been around a long time,” he told The Sunday Mirror.

“It’s the way football works – just rumours. I’m very happy at Manchester City and I think that shows on the pitch as well.”

Silva went on to state that he has silverware in his sights, and longs to win the Premier League this season with Manuel Pellegrini’s men.

“The first thing is that I want to win the Premier League this year,” he continued.

“And then I want to win the Champions League. We want to get bigger every year, regardless of what is happening at Manchester United.

“I think this is the most exciting City team I have played in. That attacking style helps, not just for me, but for all the players to go forward and score more goals.

“I ask myself in every game to be the one to take responsibility. I enjoy creating goals more than scoring them.”

Silva looks set to be part of the Spain squad that will defend their World Cup crown in Brazil this summer.

The news that he is happy at City will come as another boost for the club’s fans, who view the playmaker as a favourite at the Etihad Stadium.
