Mohamed Salah’s goal in Chelsea’s 6-0 rout of Arsenal on Saturday may have been little more than the icing on the cake, but for the January signing it continued an outstanding record against London clubs.
Salah has now scored against every side from the English capital that he has faced, which may not sound like much considering he has previously played in Egypt and Switzerland. But in the last two seasons the winger has faced Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea – and he has netted five goals against them to date.
In fact, the three goals Salah scored against the Blues during his time at FC Basel will have no doubt gone a long way to persuading Jose Mourinho that he was someone they should have in their ranks.
And having also netted against Spurs in last season’s Europa League, the 21-year-old now has a goal against the Gunners to his name as well.
And who should Chelsea face next but Crystal Palace in the Premier League next Saturday, giving Salah the perfect chance to continue his impressive record.
So Jose, is he worth a starting-spot? His previous achievements certainly suggest so.
