Atletico Madrid’s near deal to pave the way for crucial Manchester United midfield signing?

Atletico Madrid are close to singing central midfielder Gaston Pereiro claim Spanish reports.

Diego Simeone is close to getting a major reinforcement for this summer as Atletico Madrid close in on Uruguayan midfielder Gaston Pereiro, according to the Spanish paper AS.

The 18-year-old midfielder currently plays for Uruguayan giants Nacional, and is looked upon as one of the best emerging talents coming out of the small South American country.

The paper go onto say that Juventus, Udinese and Sevilla have been following his progress, however, it appears that Ateltico Madrid are winning the race for his signature, with an $8m offer deemed sufficient to land the youngster.

With Atletico Madrid’s double signing of midfielders Jose Sosa and Diego (on loan), plus a deal for Gaston Pereiro looking a real possibility, Diego Simeone is certainly bolstering his midfield options – possibly paving the way for a summer departure for one of his prized jewels.

Manchester United have been linked in the past to midfielder Koke, but a more realistic approach seems to be another linked star – Arda Turan.

The 27-year-old Turkish international has recently been linked with a move to Old Trafford in the English press, and according to the Metro, his agent Ahmet Bulut has confirmed an offer from an English club – thought to be Manchester United.

Turan has been phenomenal for the Rojiblancos this season, helping his side keep up with Real Madrid and Barcelona in one of the most exciting La Liga title races in years. In 18 starts, he has three goals and three assists to his name.

With Manchester United’s midfield problems so evident, Arda Turan – who has a reported €24m release clause - is an excellent solution and one which David Moyes could build his team around next season.
