The North London side travel to Chelsea in Saturday's early kick-off knowing a victory could put a huge dent in the Blues' title hopes while considerably helping their own.
For that reason alone, Wenger is unlikely to be putting too much importance on the fact he has reached such an outstanding milestone, focusing instead on the victory.
But Arsenal players past and present have taken to Instagram today to praise the Frenchman for his achievements.
Tomas Rosicky and Alex Song are regulars on the social media site, and both the Czech midfielder and the Cameroon international congratulated Wenger on his milestone, posting pictures and messages in recent hours.
'Congratulations boss for 1000 game' the now-Barcelona player wrote, while Rosicky posted, 'Congratulation(s) in advance on the boss and I would like to say a million times that "In Arsene we trust".'
For now it is all about the victory. But if Arsenal win, then expect the celebrations to begin in earnest. Not just for the three points gained, but to honour one of the greatest managers the Premier League has ever seen.
