PHOTO: Man United target's injury mocked by Napoli fans’ banner

The San Paolo faithful made fun of Kevin Strootman’s serious knee injury during their Europa League clash with Porto on Thursday night.

Kevin Strootman has been linked with a move to Manchester United over the years, but the Old Trafford outfit missed out on the talented Dutch midfielder last summer when he joined Roma from PSV Eindhoven.

The Netherlands international has played a major role in the Giallorossi’s rise to prominence this season, but suffered a sickening injury against Napoli two weeks ago.

Strootman will now miss the World Cup after having to undergo surgery following a knee injury, which is a major blow for the Netherlands and a shame for a player that was in excellent form.

However, Strootman has seemingly not received any sympathy from the Napoli fans, who unfurled a derogatory banner mocking him during their Europa League clash with Porto on Thursday night.

The banner said ‘Kevin, crack – still enjoying it’ and can be seen above.

Manchester United’s search for a new midfielder to reinvigorate their side would surely have led to Strootman once more this summer, but his future remains up in the air until he returns to fitness.
