Manchester United target Kroos causes anger with Facebook comments confusion

Toni Kroos & Julian Baumgartlinger

Toni Kroos got plenty of stick from United fans who hadn't read the comment below his 'controversial' update.

Manchester United will face Bayern Munich in the next round of the Champions League after the draw was made on Friday.

It is perhaps the toughest possible tie United could have received but on the plus side it will give David Moyes a chance to run the rule over one of his apparent summer targets Toni Kroos.

The German international has been in great form this term - but is still not a regular first-team player at the club under Pep Guardiola.

It was admitted in January by Guardiola that Kroos may leave - but the Spaniard has since backtracked on those statements and admitted a desire for Kroos to stay for ‘many years to come’.

However there is no doubt United are right to pursue him.

However - apparent Facebook comments attributed to him by several sources would have put some United fans off.

It appeared to some that this comment, translated as in the semi-final of course, was a dig at the apparent ease United could be defeated - and several fans really laid into the Bayern star on Facebook and Twitter.

Turns out however it was an innocent mix -up.

Kroos was in fact covering his own back after he made a mistake in his comment before - in which he specifically talks about how difficult United will be to beat.

Problem is he said quarter-final instead of semi-final - hence the later Tweet.

Poor Toni is probably wondering what all the fuss is about…
