More than once this season, Manchester United looked to have turned the corner, only for them to hit a brick wall almost immediately. So it will be interesting to see how David Moyes’ side play in the first match since their Champions League triumph over Olympiakos.
The hat-trick hero that evening – Robin van Persie – is side-lined for at least the next month, but at least United can call on Juan Mata for the game against West Ham United, after he was ineligible to play last week.
The Hammers may have games in hand, but they have slipped worryingly close to the relegation zone having looked well clear of it just a few weeks ago. For that reason alone they will be hoping to get one over United this evening.
Recent defeats on the road can be tempered by an impressive recent home run that has seen West Ham win their last three at Upton Park. But United’s recent away form suggests this has less chance of being a shock than if it was played at Old Trafford.
What do you think the result will be this afternoon?
