PICTURE: The last-gasp penalty Tottenham should have had?

Is this the moment Tottenham were denied a sensational comeback?

It was so nearly Harry Kane's big moment.

The Tottenham Hotspur strike prospect came on in the Europa League with the tie seemingly dead and buried only to inspire a near miraculous fightback.

The England youth international provided two assists for Nacer Chadli to fire Spurs into a lead, leaving them just one goal off levelling the tie.

He contributed more in the 20 minutes he as on the pitch than Roberto Soldado did in 70, and it was nearly even better.

With the game edging into injury time, Kane was brought down inside the box under a challenge from Benfica defender Miralem Sulejmani, as Tottenham's players appealed for a penalty.

The referee waved play on, and awarded a spot-kick against Tottenham moments later, and the game was tied at 2-2.

On such decisions are reputations forged, and Tottenham so nearly forced extra-time, and Harry Kane would have been hailed as a hero.

His contribution won't be ignored, but he won't be greeted with the same fanfare had he led Spurs to a famous victory and will be waking up wondering what might have been.
