Manchester United fans react on Twitter to Bayern draw - 'Time to take down the champions!'

Inside Old Trafford

Manchester United have been handed a difficult Champions League tie against Bayern Munich.

Manchester United have been handed the mother of all Champions League quarter-finals ties after being drawn against Bayern Munich following their win against Olympiakos.

United will host the current European champions at Old Trafford a week after next before going to Germany to try and secure their path into the last four of the competition.

It’s going to be a very difficult task for David Moyes because Bayern Munich have already dispatched Arsenal this season who are significantly ahead of United in the Premier League.

The game also throws up the chance for Toni Kroos to play for the side that currently owns him against the side looking to buy him according to reports since the start of the year.

United naturally would have preferred a draw against another side and for their first match to be away from home but they’ve been handed a challenge and it’s now up for the boss and the players to rise to it.

United will have to go on the offensive before looking to shut up shop at the Allianz Arena, which will be very difficult as Bayern are one of the highest scoring sides in Europe at home.

Pep Guardiola has a very good recent record against Manchester United although he’s not come up against David Moyes in the recent past. Guardiola was on charge of the Barcelona side which defeated United two times in three years, with Champions League final wins in 2009 and then again in 2011.

The instant reaction for United is that it’s a bad draw for them considering the contrasting fortunes of each side but if they get through it, it will give them huge belief that they can win the tournament.

Winning the tournament would leave them with Champions League football next season, something that several of their rivals have already written off for Moyes already.

Take a look at what United fans have made of the draw.
