Emmanuel Adebayor is hopeful he can return to the Tottenham starting line-up this weekend after a knee problem according to the London Evening Standard.

The Daily Mail, however, has reported that Danny Rose picked up a knee injury in Lisbon last night during Tottenham’s 2-2 draw with Benfica in the Europa League – and that Kyle Walker is unlikely to return because of a pelvis problem.

Former manager Glenn Hoddle has told the BBC that he nearly went back to White Hart Lane for another spell in charge after the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas in December.

Hoddle said: “Tottenham has been my club since I was eight years old and I will do anything I can to help them.

"I nearly went there this time around to the end of the season and I was prepared to do so."

Former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson has told TalkSport that Head Coach Tim Sherwood should be left to get on with the job at White Hart Lane, and has labelled talk of him being replaced as ‘ridiculous’.

"The chairman obviously thinks he is the right man for the job, he has given him the job, and he has obviously got the support of the players and the staff at the club and the training ground.

"It's time for people to get behind him and give him time to pull things around. He has not lost the dressing room - you can see that by the way the team is playing."

Nacer Chadli has told the Tottenham website that the side started to believe the side could pull off an improbable comeback after he struck for the first time in last night’s Europa League tie.

Chadli said: "After the first goal, we all started to believe. We pushed and pushed and after the second goal, I really felt we could do it.

"We had chances after that, Gylfi's header was a great save and we gave everything. It was such a shame they scored right at the end."
