Liverpool won't be the only team this season to have suffered some surprising setbacks.
Match of the Day pundit Robbie Savage has used his Daily Mirror column this week to express his doubts over Liverpool’s title challenge.
The central theme to his snippet on Liverpool’s title hopes seems to revolve around dropped points from earlier on in the season.
“No question, they have the players and a fantastic manager.
“But Rodgers may live to regret those dropped points at Hull and West Brom. And if his players turn up at Cardiff at with the wrong attitude, they will lose more ground.”
Of course, if Liverpool miss out by the smallest of margins they will point to matches gone by where surprise results occurred and they paid the penalty as a result.
But they are not the only team in the title race who are in this predicament.
Both Arsenal and Chelsea – like Liverpool – left the Hawthorns with just a point this season. Chelsea lost their lead late on whilst Arsenal had to come back from a goal down to earn a draw.
Arsenal would probably point to their loss against Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium at the start of the month or failing to hold onto their lead against Everton.
Manchester City will probably go back to the start of the season and regret their poor start on their travels where the lost to Cardiff City, Aston Villa and Sunderland.
Whilst Chelsea may also think of their loss to Stoke City and failure to beat West Ham United and West Brom at home.
If you come close to winning the title but miss out you’re bound to have regrets – but for whoever lifts the Premier League crown, they’re not going to care about a result that could have been costly earlier on in the season.
