Jan Aage Fjortoft has suggested Manchester United have been handed the ideal Champions League game against Bayern Munich.
Bundesliga expert and TV pundit Jan Aage Fjortoft has suggested Manchester United have been handed the ideal draw in the Champions League.
United have been paired up with Bayern Munich, with the first leg due to take place the week after next before the return game at the Allianz Arena.
United are the underdogs against the reigning European champions, with few expecting them to have reached this stage of the competition, with a dramatic turnaround against Olympiakos in the last round.
In Fjortoft’s eyes it’s the perfect game for United because should they lose, everyone expected it and it reflects no worse on manager David Moyes. However, should they win, it sets them up well for the final four of the competition.
Winning the Champions League remains United’s best chance of getting into the competition again for next season and if they somehow manage to beat Bayern over two legs, they may start to believe it’s possible.
