Manchester City Etihad

Match to be played on Saturday 22nd March 2014 at 15:00. Venue: Etihad Stadium, Manchester.

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini will be working out how to replace Vincent Kompany ahead of the Premier League game against Fulham.

It’s an important match for the title contenders where they can cut the lead on Chelsea at the top of the table. Here’s the side Pellegrini could go with for the game this Saturday.

GK – Joe Hart

England’s number one should continue in goal. He’ll be a key player in terms of setting up attacks from the back.

RB – Pablo Zabaleta

One of the most experienced players in the defence. Important for him to play in light of Kompany’s suspension.

CB – Martin Demichelis

Demichelis has received some bad press for his performances this season but he was solid at Hull last weekend and played well following Kompany’s red card which put the defence under pressure.

CB – Joleon Lescott

Lescott is a good player to have coming into the back four. He’s got plenty of Premier League experience and will savour this chance to make an impression.

LB – Gael Clichy

Clichy’s pace will be a key asset in this game. He could see a lot of the ball over on the left hand side, which means there will be pressure on him to produce solid crosses.

RM – Samir Nasri

Nasri is a top class midfielder and someone who has been very consistent for the side this season. He’ll protect the ball well out on the right.

CM – Yaya Toure

Toure is all about pace and power through the middle of the side. He’ll look to really get on top of the Fulham midfield and make it difficult for them at both ends of the pitch.

CM – Fernandinho

Fernandinho could enjoy more of a free licence in this game to go and hurt Fulham. He can drop off and also nudge forward.

LM – David Silva

Silva scored a spectacular goal against Hull last weekend and will be full of confidence. He’s very dangerous when he cuts in off of the left hand side.

ST – Edin Dzeko

Dzeko was the other City star to grab a goal last weekend and he deserves to stay in the side. His work rate and effort levels against Hull were superb.

ST – Alvaro Negredo

Negredo’s job in the City attack will be to harass the defence. If he can occupy both centre backs then he’ll make things easier for Dzeko coming forward and also Nasri and Silva drifting in from the wings.
