Will Carling played for Harlequins his entire career and was also a long serving captain of the England Rugby Union side.
Nowadays he works as a pundit on the sport and is also an avid Tweeter.
And last night he seemed to put the infamous Arsenal fan in his place.
Carling probably already has some form of relationship with Piers Morgan - but even if this was just banter it was brilliant.
Morgan is often Tweeting about his beloved Arsenal and putting down their rivals. Several Manchester United players are certainly on the end of his typed barbs more often than not - Robin van Persie and Rio Ferdinand in particular.
Then there is former Liverpool and United star Michael Owen - who is often the target of a tirade or two - Morgan perhaps still stinging from the 2001 FA Cup Final.
But yesterday he sunk his teeth into United as they successfully overturned a 2-0 deficit in the Champions League to join Chelsea as the only remaining English team in the competition.
But Piers was quick to remind them of their lowly league position - which got Carling well and truly involved.
This is a great exchange - check it out…
@willcarling I don't recall many United fans displaying the class of which you speak when Arsenal suffer!— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) March 19, 2014
Aaah but @piersmorgan surely you are a bigger man?? And I do not mean your waist size, or anything else for that matter !!!— Will Carling (@willcarling) March 19, 2014
The moral of the story - don’t mess with Will Carling.
But at least Morgan was not too much of a spoil sport after the game - as he revealed an archived photo which demonstrated his reaction to RVP scoring the winning hat-trick goal in the second half.
Good fun had by all.
