Injury-hit Juve call up youth star to face Fiorentina

Juventus Serie A

Faced with a defensive injury crisis, Juventus boss Antonio Conte has called on youth team starlet Filippo Romagna for the trip to Florence.

Juventus take on Fiorentina this evening in the second leg of an all-Italian Europa League clash and Filippo Romagna may get a chance to shine on the big stage.

The Old Lady are strolling away with the Scudetto and could even amass 100 points in a dominant campaign.

But success in Europe is crucial and Antonio Conte's side are marginal outsiders against rivals Fiorentina having drawn the home leg 1-1.

Conte's preparations for the big game have been hindered slightly by injuries to Andrea Barzagli, Angelo Ogbonna and Federico Peluso and he has called up a player from the Juventus Primavera squad.

Centre-back Romagna is a leader in Juventus' youth side, has captained Italy's Under-17 team and seen as a great prospect for the future but is still only 16 and lacks experience at the highest level.

Romagna was also in Juventus' squad for their Europa League clash with Turkish side Trabzonspor but is yet to feature for the senior side.

Conte can still call on Martin Caceres, Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini in a 3-5-2 formation but is lacking options at the back against a Fiorentina side that could take full advantage.

Carlos Tevez appears to have shrugged off his injury worries and is expected to start up front with Fernando Llorente.
