Real Madrid are planning to table a bid of around £15m for AC Milan full-back Mattia De Sciglio, according to Italian news sources.
A dismal campaign for Milan has left the club facing the prospect of missing out on European football entirely next season with the Rossoneri stuck in mid-table.
Whatever happens it looks almost certain that the summer will see a comprehensive overhaul of the squad and significant transfer activity.
De Sciglio could be one of the men on his way out, although Milan would be reluctant to see him leave as he is seen as an Italian star of the future.
The 21-year-old is said to be on Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti's wish list and according to Tuttosport and Sportmediaset, Real owner Florentino Perez has already made contact with Adriano Galliani, Milan's chief executive.
It is being reported that Real are ready to offer £15m and Milan are willing to consider that but may ask for Fabio Coentrao to be sent over on loan as part of the deal.
While De Sciglio has always stressed that he is happy to stay with Milan, his agent Giovanni Branchini has made various trips to Madrid over the last few months.
Manchester United had also been linked to De Sciglio but given their current turmoil, Real Madrid would seem to have a better chance of luring him.
