'Next Jack Wilshere' returns to training 8 weeks after being carried off on a stretcher

Dan Crowley playing for England

Daniel Crowley has returned to training with the Arsenal youth teams.

The ‘next Jack Wilshere’ at Arsenal, Daniel Crowley, saw his season in pieces when he was stretchered off during the under-21 defeat against Middlesbrough two months ago.

The 16-year-old midfielder’s form before that injury had plenty of people at the club buzzing and purring over his potential as he continued to play out of his skin for the under-21 side at a level far beyond his actual age.

It was a blow when he was carried off against ‘Boro but the good news is he’s now back in training ahead of the rest of the season.

His return isn’t just a boost for the youth teams but also for the teenager personally because it can be more difficult for a youngster to bear the negatives of an injury both physically and mentally.

Arsenal have under-21 and under-18 games left before the end of the season which will allow Crowley to maintain a decent standard of physical fitness as he looks for a potential chance to progress into the senior ranks next season.
