Give him a chance! Liverpool fans vote for loan star return and it’s not even close

Liverpool fans have voted for the loan star they would like to see back at Anfield next season, and it was a landslide...

Earlier this week, we ran a poll asking Liverpool fans which of their players currently on loan deserved a first-team chance next season.

Given the quality of the Reds’ young stars, it would have been no surprise if the vote was close. But it was anything but, with one loan star having clearly captured the hearts and minds of the Anfield faithful.

That player was Suso.

The 20-year-old Spanish winger already has experience in Liverpool’s starting line-up. But this season he was sent on loan to La Liga side Almeria with whom he has made 28 appearances to date, scoring two goals and providing eight assists in the process.

The player has recently revealed his desire to return to Anfield and stake a claim for a regular starting-berth, saying the following in quotes published by the Liverpool Echo:

It’s a dream to play at Anfield every weekend and in the Champions League. It’s the best option that can happen.

“I would like to sign a new contract with Liverpool and stay there for many years.”

That will have been music to the ears of Liverpool fans, who rate the young player extremely highly. And that came across in our poll, with 63% of those taking part saying they wanted Suso to be included in the first-team next season.

When you consider that the player who came second in the poll – Tiago Ilori – received just 15% of the vote, it is clear by just how much of a landslide Suso won.

Third place went to Jordon Ibe, who took 12%, followed by Andre Wisdom (6%) and Conor Coady (3%).
