Sport ran a story earlier today, which suggested Barcelona boss Gerardo Martino had asked the Spanish champions for eight players last October.
The list included players connected with Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United and Sport reacted, creating a poll which asked Barcelona fans who they think is the player (or players) they need ahead of next season.
At the time of writing, 2747 fans had taken part in the poll and they voted unanimously for the club to go after Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero and Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan.
Aguero received 40% of the vote while Gundogan received 29% of the vote. Making up the top three was Gundogan’s Borussia Dortmund teammate Neven Subotic who came in with 16% of the vote.
Fortunately for Manchester City fans, they’re relatively safe when it comes to Aguero and his future. City have him tied down on a contract until 2017, will be playing Champions League football next season and could be about to enjoy his second Premier League title.
The two Dortmund stars are also very important players to their clubs and even if Barcelona come into the market for either, David Moyes’ United can be competitive financially with any transfer target.
