Arsenal announced the fantastic news yesterday that midfielders Aaron Ramsey and Santi Cazorla had signed new contracts with the club along with talented youngster Gedion Zelalem.
The news means that the Gunners have two of their best midfielders tied down to the club as Arsene Wenger continues his pursuit to start bring silverware back to the red half of North London on a frequent basis.
It’s extremely important for those chances of success that the club manages to keep players who are going to form the spine of the side over the next few seasons.
Ramsey has been one of the Gunners’ best players this season with eight goals and six assists which is a remarkable tally considering he’s been carrying an injury in the second half of the season.
Rambo has completely turned his Arsenal career around after initially struggling to get a foothold in Wenger’s first team.
Cazorla has played in a variety of different positions following the arrival of Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid but he has still managed to produce a respectable tally of four goals and four assists this season.
Ramsey is closing in on a return from that injury while Cazorla finds himself currently in his more suited number ten role following the hamstring problem Mesut Ozil picked up in the recent draw against Bayern Munich.
Needless to say they were both delighted with signing their new deals.
“I'm delighted to have signed a new contract. I've been here for six years and I'm so happy. I think we've shown so far this season what we're all about and the direction that this club wants to go in,” Ramsey told the Arsenal website.
“I'm so happy to have signed a new contract with Arsenal. This club makes me very happy - the manager, my team-mates, the fantastic supporters, the stadium and the whole organisation here,” said Cazorla.
Here’s what Arsenal fans made of the news via Twitter.

Ramsey has been here 6 years already. Blimey. If he sees out his contract he will be here for a whole 10 years. Will still only be 28 too.— AlexFortyNine (@AlexFortyNine) March 18, 2014
