VIDEO: Mourinho sets Chelsea star crazy training ground drill

Petr Cech

Petr Cech was handed a special assignment in training ahead of Chelsea’s Champions League clash with Galatasary.

The Chelsea shot-stopper’s reflexes were given the ultimate test in a bizarre training ground drill at Cobham in preparation for the Champions League clash with Galatasary.

The 31-year-old Czech Republic international was placed in a smaller goal and challenged with standard catching practice from each side. Sounds normal, right? Yet, in the midst of releasing each ball, he was confronted with tennis balls being fired at his goal.

With the cameras rolling, Cech astonishingly managed to keep his cool and keep his goal intact.

The Blues hold a slight advantage going in to the Champions Leage clash with Galatasary, recording a precious away goal during the 1-1 draw in Turkey.

Jose Mourinho will know that by keeping a clean sheet, his team will advance to the Quarter Final stage. However, should the visitors score two goals, Chelsea will have to score three to progress.

When broken down the importance of a watertight backline against Roberto Mancini’s men, Petr Cech’s training ground drill may not seem so bizarre after all.

It promises to be an intriguing encounter, and one which former Blues striker Didier Drogba will want to make his mark on.
