Former Tottenham Hotspur star Gareth Bale is hoping his new boots will steer him on in next weekend’s El Clasico with Barcelona.
The most expensive signing in the world will be hoping his new boots help him avenge Real Madrid’s early season defeat at Barcelona in this weekend’s huge clash.
Real Madrid sit at the top of La Liga – four points clear of Barcelona - as a result of their phenomenal form during 2014, and know that a win this weekend will make them super favourites to be crowned champions at the end of the season.
Gareth Bale has had an excellent debut season in the Spanish capital, despite suffering from early-season injuries. In 17 La Liga starts, the Welsh international has scored 10 goals and assisted a further 11 – joining an elite group of players across Europe to hit double figures in goals and assists this season.
Despite his excellent season, there still remain doubts whether Bale can produce match-winning performances when facing the very best. His first clasico in Barcelona was a struggle from the very first whistle, and the press later criticised him for being outshone by Barcelona’s big summer signing Neymar.
This weekend, up against the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Andres Iniesta, it is the perfect opportunity for Bale to come to the fore and show the world just what a special player he is.
