Liverpool fans react to Rodgers-Barcelona rumours on Twitter - 'He'll be facing them soon anyway!'

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has been linked with a summer switch to Spanish giants Barcelona.

The Mirror reported two days ago that Barcelona were eyeing up Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers to replace Gerardo Martino at the end of the season.

Rodgers has done a remarkable job this season at Anfield taking his crop of Liverpool stars and turning them into genuine title contenders.

Seemingly impressed, there have been rumours coming from South West Europe that Barca could be interested in the Irishman, who has shown a fantastic ability to take players and turn them into superstars regardless of age and experience.

There are plenty of things wrong with the rumours and several explanations as to why Rodgers is about as likely to join Barca as Luis Suarez is to jump ship and play for David Moyes at Manchester United.

Liverpool are on the verge of Champions League football, which has been their main aim throughout the season.

The fact the side is in such a good position in terms of the title race is something that Rodgers has admitted has surprised him throughout the season, as his aim has always been a top four finish.

European football not only improves Liverpool’s financial situation and enables fans to experience those nights all over again at Anfield, it allows Rodgers to attract better players and test himself against better coaches.

The real test for Rodgers is going to be next season because his side are well beyond the point where they are a surprise package.

Liverpool will have more games next season, which will remove the extra rest they’ve enjoyed this season and sides will have better ideas over how to keep them quiet in a tactical sense.

However, the overriding point is that Rodgers will be the man in charge of it all rather than choosing to go to the Nou Camp when there’s not even an official sign that Martino is going to lose his job at the end of the season.

Here’s what Liverpool fans have made of the rumours on Twitter.
