Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner may have made more headlines off the pitch than on it in recent seasons, but that does not appear to have stopped him from believing he is worth a considerable outlay when he does leave the Emirates Stadium this summer.
The Danish striker’s contract expires at the end of June, and with no renewal on the horizon, the 26-year-old will soon be seeking a new club. And while they will be getting a free-agent, reports in his homeland suggest he will not come cheap.
Ekstra Bladet claims Bendtner’s agent is seeking a deal that will see his client earn 40million Danish krone a year. That equates to around £4.5million.
When you consider Bendtner is also likely to seek a considerable signing on fee, if the report is true it is clear the striker who has scored just two goals all season could earn a tidy sum from his next move.
There may well be sides willing to pay what Bendtner is reportedly seeking. Such is the game. But it will be interesting to see where the player’s next move takes him, and if he ever lives up to the considerable potential he showed in his youth.
