Report: Milan v Man United for Schmeichel

There are reports that AC Milan and Manchester United will do battle for the signature of Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.

Kasper Schmeichel continues to win plaudits for his performances at Championship leaders Leicester City and could be the subject of a transfer battle in the summer.

The 27-year-old has fairly inevitably been tipped to follow in the footsteps of his father Peter and join Manchester United.

However, there have been frequent suggestions in the Italian press that he has a prestigious Serie A suitor in the form of AC Milan.

Milan have had a terrible season and look unlikely to secure any form of European football for next year but they remain an illustrious club and an attractive destination.

The Rossoneri have struggled for certainty in the No 1 position over the last few years with veteran Christian Abbiati still favoured despite some high-profile errors.

It is expected that Milan will try and find a face for the future to play between the posts in the summer and Schmeichel could fit the bill perfectly.

The Danish international's agent Mads Frederiksen has told the Mirror that 'lots of teams want Schmeichel' and insists that Milan are leading the chasing pack alongside Manchester United.
